You Say You Want A Revolution?

I just want to touch on this briefly, seeing how it involves our people and our culture. Los Angeles is the epicenter of what has to be one of the largest public demonstrations in it's history. Today is May 1st, or May Day as it has been referred to. The hispano, latino, chicano community had denoted that this day would be devoid of their business, their patronage, and their presence. Instead, marches and demonstrations were coordinated throughout the day in protest of new immigration measures that have been proposed. It was suggested that we not show up to work today, not buy anything all day long, etc. Some supermarkets in my area have actually closed today for the event, as well as other business in solidarity with the cause. Traffic was unusually light this morning, and noticably so this afternoon. I decided to still go to work, but I haven't bought anything all day. All our shopping was done yesterday. Hopefully, this whole thing won't end up hurting the cause more than it does to further it. Like I said before, there has got to be a middle ground, and some understanding attained by both sides. There is a right way to do this, we've yet to find it.

The right way is actually quiet simple: secure the borders between the United States and Mexico and deport all criminal aliens. Done.
